A group of policy makers and school directors from Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, will take part in ETF policy learning event Quality and Quality assurance towards VET schools development: learning from experience in Estonia, on 25 – 28 May, 2010. In the framework of ETF DCI School Development Initiative, Ministry of Education and Research in Estonia will be a hosting this one week event with major focus on SELF-ASSESSMENT as a tool for quality improvement and VET schools development. The emphasise will be put on: VET school leadership and management, teaching and learning processes in VET schools, VET schools as life-long learning centres and delivery of services for communities. Four Country Teams will be exploring Estonia experience, and will be searching for answers of some of the following questions: How students can be stimulated to get involved in training and life-long learning? Who is in best position to support training initiatives – employers, state? How to improve the quality of training in order to improve peoples’ qualifications? How to get support for policy implementation? How social partners can participate in the process on regular basis and not only sporadically, and in particular in what can be their role in life-long learning? What channels can be used by social partners to become regular partners of VET providers? Are VET schools open enough towards local community? How to finance VET schools as flexible community centres? How to modernize the existing capacity building for VET school staff?
