Online retail sales have continued to increase despite the recession, according to figures released by the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG) sales index.

Clothing sales online increased 17% in April compared to the same period a year ago, and while this was the best performing sector other areas also grew.

The rate of growth for most sectors online has declined this year on 2008 figures, but growth is still occurring and online growth is outpacing those of traditional shops.
